Welcome to Delphi’s first quarterly update!

Delphi was launched on 17th May, so having reached the three-month mark we thought it would be good to tell you about what we’ve been up to so far!

We talk about comms as a competitive advantage for tech businesses, seen through four lenses – the story you tell, the people telling it, the way you structure that activity, and the stage on which you operate – and we’ve already been busy in all of these areas:

  • Story: We’ve won two creative-led brand strategy projects, developing refreshed narratives and campaigns for a cybersecurity company and a fintech
  • Teller: We’re providing exec coaching to leadership at startups through to FTSE companies, bringing communications to the fore as a key leadership quality.
  • Structure: We worked on a brand architecture project for a London-based startup, defining its purpose, proposition and personality. We’re also working with a client to help it develop its DE&I strategy from scratch.
  • Stage: We’ve created a major insight report for a global automotive brand to inform its future strategy, based on qualitative interviews with global industry experts.

We’re loving the breadth of projects we’re working on and the range of people we’re working with! Whether you’re a global enterprise, a scaleup or startup, or even an agency, we can help you make your comms a competitive advantage for your business in any or all of these areas. Please drop us a line if you’d like to chat more.

What’s coming next

  • 2024 planning: As we approach autumn, many comms people’s thoughts turn to planning for the year ahead. We’re available to help, whether that’s with structuring your activity in the right way, evolving your story, providing an external view on upcoming challenges, or looking at how you need to be positioning your brand.
  • On-tap consultancy: One service we offer that’s proving especially popular is our on-tap support for comms leaders (or their team). They might need a strategic buddy to chat to as an external sounding board or for day to day counsel. Drop us a line to find out how we can provide this for you or your team.
  • Delphi dinner: We’ve started a regular series of intimate dinners for comms leaders in our networks, with a chance to discuss a key industry theme and connect with peers in the same boat. The next one is in central London on September 27th, so if you’re interested, please drop us a line.

Our highlights from the quarter

Well it would be odd if we didn’t say our launch was a highlight right? It was a huge moment for all three of us and was covered by Provoke Media and PR Week. Louie was also interviewed by Provoke for its Headliners slot here. Find out why he admires Taylor Swift and how he’s inspired by Midjourney!

In June we were thrilled to attend the ‘graduation’ of BME Pros’ brilliant Xec. Leadership Scheme cohort at Google UK, after hosting a training day for them on authentic leadership and personal values. Louie also joined the judging panel for the 2023/2024 applicants, while Ellie took part in a podcast – hosted by the fantastic Shamina Peerboccus – about authentic leadership. Listen here!

We held our first Delphi Dinner to unpack communications as a competitive advantage and discuss where comms leaders see the priorities right now. It was amazing to have so many people there and to have such lively, challenging conversations.

In fact, a huge thank you to everyone we’ve met and chatted to in the last three months! From fellow consultants to journos and comms leaders – thanks for the advice, brilliant conversations, and the many coffees ?

Our thought leadership

Before Delphi launched, we spoke to 20 comms leaders at tech firms across the UK. Their feedback helped inform our thinking and inspired us to create the “comms as a competitive advantage” proposition. You can read the full report here, which summarises what we heard and includes five provocations for the future of tech comms.

Delphi Digest

Finally, a little plug for our weekly email newsletter, which rounds up the key tech stories of the week, through a comms lens. We also include our take on an issue, and provide some brainfood for further inspo too. Check out the latest issue here and sign up via the link at the top of the screen, we promise it’s great! 🙂
