Since we set up Delphi one thing that’s surprised us is the global nature of our work.
Out of our three biggest clients, two are US based and one is in Asia. Not just the companies themselves – but our direct clients, either a CMO or CEO in each case.
They’re very comfortable with their strategic agency being based on a different continent to them.
This wasn’t particularly we expected but we’ve found four reasons why it’s worked for both us and our clients so far:
🧑💻 Remote work is normalised now. Yep, the pandemic changed everything and has normalised video calls as the default setting for all meetings. Clients are probably WFH anyway, so it doesn’t matter that we are too – everyone’s just a rectangle on a Teams call. The barriers to global working have been demolished.
🌍 Our time zone and language both work. Suitably located for both the US and Asia, London is a great place for international work. And obviously, English has been the global language of business for some decades now. Maybe the accent helps too?
🤓 Expertise and strategy at senior level is what counts. What our clients care about is the right senior advice, built out of experience and empathy. They see themselves as buying the best service they can get from a global market – just like other creative or consultative services – so location matters less than quality.
🙌 A genuine British advantage? Whisper it, but maybe this type of work is one where the UK is truly a global leader. We’ve been battle-hardened by our globally influential media (BBC, FT, Economist). We’ve been shaped by our strong tradition of storytelling and creativity. And now we’ve built a reputation for consulting and advisory services. That makes us a compelling choice in the global market.
